Rental places in New York
« on: July 22, 2008, 05:49:56 pm »

Hi!

I'm going to NYC this fall, around end of september.

Looking for a good place to rent a db + camera and some lights.

Preferable elinchrome ranger but profoto will do aswell.

Any good places with good prices?

Looking for a p30+ or p30 with an h2 + 80mm, 35mm and 150mm or 120 macro.

K&M Camera has the best prices and a great service.  Ask for Ross

Treat you like a real person even if you're not Steven Meisel's number 2.

TREC is a distant second

Thanks guys!

What about adorama? They seem to have the most fair prices atm. Thursday to monday rentals are pretty cheap.

I love Fotocare! Fantastic customer service with none of the madness of B&H. They know their stuff too. If there's anything Leaf you want to check out, you can test it all there.

FYI, Fotocare does not rent or carry phase products.

for elinchrom lighting, i would recommend flashclinic:  http://www.flashclinic.com/index2.html
for phase/blad in addition to calumet, you might try lens and repro:

On a connex topic, what is your best advice for insuring your gear, do you guys have any particular insurance provider recommendations, as per your own gear and occasional rentals?

Thanks,

R.

AGREED!

Although I would lump Fotocare and Calumet in the same place and Adorama and K&M in the same place.  with TREC in the Middle
