Eric Fossum, the inventor of the active pixel CMOS type of sensor that is now becoming dominant in most areas of photography.
Eric has nicely answered questions from people like Emil (ejmartin) and myself in the DPReview forums.
P. S. I should have said that Eric (and his JPL colleagues) invented Active Pixel Sensors, the type that includes all modern CMOS sensors and also the Panasonic/Olympus NMOS sensors.
