« on: July 09, 2008, 06:47:31 am »

i have had no luck trying to find a supplier of Hahnemuhle in HK or for that matter any other fine art archival papers in Hong Kong.
great place to buy cameras and lenses, but hard to find the consumables.

Can anyone suggest a vendor?

Hi
Maybe you can try this :

[a href=\"http://revoit.hk/]http://revoit.hk/[/url]

Or email to Jonathan.foo@revoit.hk.com

If im not wrong they're also have Ilford and harman as well.
Like you i live in Indonesia, hard to find any fine art material in here, usually i import them from US, i don't know if i can import them any longer, regarding to high shipping fee. Maybe if im out of stock i will try to import it from HK.

Thanks,

I bought the printer and paper from "Mr. Computer" at Wanchai 298 Computer Zone they are also the dealer for HM paper.

They don't have a website. As I know, their email address is  mrcomp@netvigator.com and the tel no is 28110044

Welcome to Hong Kong, where you can buy everything, except that which you really need.

I have contacted the Ilford importer directly about Gold Fibre Silk. "No plan to bring it in, or any other Gallerie paper. There is no demand." This from a country with probably the highest per capita of Pro/Prosumer DSLR on the planet. It seems that very few photographers in HK ever actually print anything. I travel a lot for work, so I buy what I can in Japan or Australia and carry it back.

To help you out a bit, you can get some Hahnemuhle papers in HK. I have seen them in 298, WCC and Golden. Most common is the rebadged Canon "Photo Rag".
Specifically, Mr Computer in 298 as previously mentioned. Hard to see any names on the stalls in 298, but he's the one with all the printers. You'll probably be able to see a box of Photo Rag on the wall as well.

You can get Harman Gloss and Matte at Photo Scientific in Stanley St, but no Semi Gloss, once again, "no demand".

Epson Premium Semigloss Photo Paper is available at 298/WCC/Golden, in sizes up to A2. This is actually cheaper in HK than many other places, $400HKD for 25 sheets of A2.

Frustrating, isn't it.

Called Mr Computer and asked them and they said nothing.
Called Photo Scientific and they drew a blank on any paper.
Bought a lens at Tin Cheung and they said 'print what?'

I will be back in Australia soon and will stock up.

As for indonesia, you should try some of the australian suppliers - shipping may be cheaper than US.

DES has good range of Innova and other, and also includes very good profiles on their website - far better than the innova website.

or Kayell.

I would love to find the Moab Fibre stocks in this part of the world too.

Not all the salesperson at Mr. Computer is knowledgeable on printing and that's why you get that response. Try reaching them at their shop and look for a guy called Ferdy. I think he maybe the only one at this shop who has the experience and knowledge about printing. He's the manager of this shop and their address is: Shop 349, 298 ComputerZone, Wanchai.

Just pay a visit to this shop yesterday so I know you should get what you re looking for.

Just recently I ordered Hahnemuehle in bulk from D.I.M. Ltd. who are the distributor for Hahnemuehle in HK.

You can contact me (Michael) at the Cathay Camera Club in Hong Kong

http://www.cathaycameraclub.com/ContactUs.html

I can send you then the current list of stock that D.I.M. has incl prices.

For a small selection of Hahnemuehle papers in sizes up to A3+ I would also recommend to visit Mr Computer at the Wanchai Computer Zone. The manager there is very knowledgable and helpful.
