Unreliable Mamiya AFD II/P30
« on: June 21, 2008, 03:48:25 am »

Since having MAC group update my AFD II firmware to the latest version the AFD II/P30 is unreliable. Mirror locks up and I have to spend minutes cycling power to get it down and many "No FB"  (no film back) error messages causing me to miss many shots. Seems fine with a film back. Any one else seen this on the latest firmware and a P30?
Thanks
Marc

MAC Group updated the firmware on my 645AFDII and it works fine with the P45+.

Perhaps the firmware was tested with a + not the earlier version?

I only sent in the camera body so I have no idea what if any back they tested it with. I have just only used it with the + back. But I just thought you might want to know. I suspect that yours might just need to go back to MAC Group.

Weird thing is it is totaly reliable with a film back? Perhaps a Phase One issue?

I doubt it, there are a whole lot of Phase backs on Mamiya's. And considering that they are in the hands of pros and advanced shooters, I think any issue would have long been common knowledge.
