Source for corner weights?
« on: June 10, 2008, 11:10:47 pm »

is there a good source for corner weights? i would like to keep curled paper flat while I inspect a print, but don't need to go through a D-Roller. I have seen round leather weights that I would love to get my hands on. I am thinking 2, perhaps 3 or 4 of them in total.

There are two sources:  USA:  [a href=\"http://www.conservationresources.com/Main/section_21/section21_28.htm]http://www.conservationresources.com/Main/...ection21_28.htm[/url]

Good Luck,

Thanks for the links for leather weights.  Think four of the smaller 1/4 pound round weights would work for a 30" x 40" fiber based print?

Does anyone know of something similar with magnets?

I've tried several types of magnets, but face the problem of the less strong black ceramic kind leaving marks, and the more aggressive silver type magnet being too hard to lift off of the surface without damaging the print.  I'm currently using silver magnets that are about the size of two quarters stacked on top of each other, with a small piece of paper under each to use to lift the magnet from the surface of the print.  The magnets hold prints onto the sheet metal surface of my light booth.

If I could find leather bound magnets, I think that would be the ideal way to hold prints onto a metal surface.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ron H.

How about just gluing a small piece of leather on the magnet??I bought some zinc covered steel shot and had a seamstress friend make bags with velveteen fabric. No scratching which leather could do.

Of course, these bags are about 4 lbs. each and help me hold the art flat while working at the design table.
