WOW. Hassy pricing on the 45-90mm. I am definitely interested. Are there photos yet of the lens? I wonder if it is similar in size to the Hasselblad 50-110mm.

Thanks for the info, Lance.

ah. Found it:

Looks similar to the existing 55-110mm. Nice and small, it appears.

I was expecting the mamiya bundle to be cheaper than the P1, not more expensive. And that 45-90 is crazy expensive, but I figure real world dealer prices will be lower.

Hi
Here are the specs for the 150 2.8 & 45-90 zoom.

http://www.mamiya.com/news-events-press-re...at-cameras.html

Here is the specs for the AF 150 3.5
http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=786

Comparing the new 150 to the older model the min focus has improved from 4.9 feet ( 1.5 m ) to 3.31 feet ( 1 m ) on the new 150 2.8 model. With the new 45-90 the min focus is 19 inches ( 50 cm ) which is way better than the 55-110 mm model. Both these lenses are very tempting especially the 45-90 & when you use it with the FF sensors ( Dalsa & Kodax ) it becomes an effective 52-110 lens that will focus close.

on the lenses:
ouch!!! and i cried last year when i bought the 75-150 at 3grand +!!! unfortunately, with the 28 and the 75-150, the announced prices were pretty much what they were selling for at release.  i have to admit that i was expecting the 45-90 to be in the same price range range as the 75-150-  at  $5500 , i guess i will be ( at least for now ) hanging on to the 55 when i need to shoot wider than 75mm.

The Mamiya package has a 2 year warranty, compared to 1 year with the Phase.  I'm guessing they would be the same price if they had the same warranty period...

Let me first thank Lance and Capture Integration for posting precise and timely information. (note to flamers, I am NOT being sarcastic).

Now, concerning the actual pricing, as a Mamiya & Phase user I think the new prices are obscene. I've looked at the new body and I don't see anything there that justifies this price increase - at least for me. Of course, this in no way implicates Capture Integration, as these are Phase's pricepoints.

I've heard you can get a good price for a lung, but with the dollar down.. not so sure.

Don't forget that Phase One is offering 36 months or 300,000 exposures with a their new Phase One 645 body with their Value Added Warranty. You can read more about it here:

I just paid $300 for the 150 F3.5 used. This is what I like(d) about the Mamiya. I think I see a Sinar in my future, maybe Thierry wants to hold a sales presentation in Patpong Rd. or whatever it's called nowadays

Edmund

PS. I really cannot imagine that a Leica shooter would say good things about Mamiya lenses - how the mighty have fallen, Guy.   PPS. Do you want a profile ? I have them for all the Phase backs, same tweaks as for Leica.

210-615 Sekor Zoom AF 45-90mm f/4.5 D Aspherical
$5,549 MAP - available August 2008

Chris,

Do you know if these are real street prices?  Or will there be a package deal with this lens and a body???

I can see Mamiya getting into the same ballpark as Hasselblad lenses, but this is absurd.  I recently obtained a P45+ back with a Cambo, and picked up a used AFD with the intent of upgrading.  But if this is what Mamiya/Phase One plans to do in their lens pricing it might make sense to go with a system that uses the more reasonably priced (???) Zeiss glass!

So what can we reasonably expect for street and package prices with this lens?

Thanks.

Not much less than a Hy6 and CZ/Schneider lenses.  I'm looking at a 645AF Monday.  It better be amazing for these prices.

As a Mamiya dealer I can tell you that street prices (in the USA) will not vary by much off the MAP. The dealer cost in the USA is a relatively small percentage less than the MAP. You will not see significant discounts.

I am speaking of individual purchases, not a bundle with a digital back, etc where the dealer has more margin to work with and can "make a deal" on the lens or some other item. For example, you will not see the 45-90 zoom purchased on its own below $5,000. If you do, then the dealer is selling it at a loss.

It's a hard reality, but the overwhelming majority of medium format camera/lens equipment is sold to dealers at very close to MAP pricing...

The best thing about the lens is the range and the apparent size. But I am surprised at the cost. It better be a very good lens.

You know there actually better than i thought they would be. But honestly i think it has much more to do with MF than the lens when you get into the MF world. You certainly don't have to push the lens like you do in 35mm. The files are amazingly good and even with the cheap glass. i do want the 150mm 2.8 D but that darn 150 4.5 or whatever it is actually does a nice job. The 80 and 55 i think are extremely nice and i picked up the 300 4.5 that is a razor blade even wide open. The 35mm can use a little update and i would like to get the 28mm but after some testing the corners are more like a 30mm lens there soft. But I am also buying a future too. We do have to look down that path after the money going in. I thought about the 45mm but I heard some negative comments here. i also bought the Horseman SWD.
