Soft proof settings
« on: June 04, 2008, 11:59:04 am »

I have been soft proofing for a while with some success but I'm not clear on whether to check any one of four check boxes...
1.Preserve Color Numbers [checking this seems to really whack the saturation and darken the image
2.Use Black Point Compentsation
3. Simulate Paper White
4. Simulate Ink Black
I could probably test for all these but am interested in any consensus/advice here on these.
Thanks much,
Bill

Preserve numbers is used solely for proofing what one device number set will produce when sent without transformation.

In plain terms say a press offset image ex. SWOP what it would print on a prepress proofer like a MatchPrint without conversion.

Very rarely I do want to see if the image is sent un-profiled what it would look like when printed. This can sometimes show when double profiling or other weird things are happening, but is in no way something for soft proofing output.
