A client is having a problem saving my TIFFs as Jpegs.
She is converting them to 8bit, but she is only allowed to use a "Save for Web" option.
She cannot save the TIFFs as regular Jpegs.
Any idea why this might be?
Many thanks.

My recommendation for prep work to save a JPEG includes:
(1) Convert to sRGB
(2) Flatten all layers
(3) Delete all alpha channels
(4) Convert to 8-bits
That removes any extraneous information that a JPG cannot save and ensures that other software will display ot properly.
The drawback to Save for Web is that it will strip out metadata. It's queer, I know, since posting an image on the Web leaves it open to being copied by others. I would suggest using File | Save As and selecting JPG. That will preserve the metadata.
If JPG is not an option under File | Save As, then it is very likely that you or the client has inadvertently converted the image to 16-bits per channel or changing to a mode that is not supported by JPG, like L*a*b or Indexed Color.
Cheers,
