Advice needed: Z2100
« on: May 22, 2008, 08:40:19 pm »

Hi everyone,

I currently have a small business printing photos on an iPF5000 which is a great printer (apart from being about as user friendly as a barracuda).

I have the opportunity to purchase a new Z2100 for a very low price (~$1500) and I am trying to decide if I should purchase or not. The benefits are that I can print a little wider (24" vs 17") and the built in spectro which is great. I am just not sure what the print quality will be like vs. my 12 ink iPF5000. Ideally I'd get a Z3100, but thats not in the picture right now. How big are the differences in print quality between iPF5000/Z2100 and Z2100/Z3100 which is a great printer?

Regards

As I replied on Dpreview, this forum is better suited to LFP questions.

The Z2100 is a good banner printer, and prepress printer where you don't need to worry about out of gamut (the press) colours, nor displaying the prints.

The Z3100 has a much closer output to the Canon 12 colour printers, and the Gloss Enhancer makes all the difference in the world.

I'd wait until the next sale which the just had in Canada for a 44" Z3100.
