Can an LCD HDMI TV be used as a monitor?
« on: May 21, 2008, 12:50:41 pm »

Hi - I need some help, please.
I need to buy a new monitor and am wondering if a HDMI LCD TV (like Sony Bravia) can be used as an accurate color monitor for photoshop work.  Can it be accurately calibrated by using an EyeOne puck, for instance (especially when hooked up on the HDMI connection on my laptop)?

Thanks!

i have a bravia, and i don't believe it can be simply and accurately calibrated - there are calibration adjustments which i've used, but they seem a bit crude

i'm also not sure that a laptop can be used for the calibration

if i'm wrong i'd love to know

i do use the bravia as a monitor - even with crude calibration it's much better than a laptop

Good question.  I don't know about using an i1 Display2.

There are HDTV techs that do calibrate the TVs.  I don't know if they've ever profiled any though.
