I am buying by boyfried a tripod for his birthday...
I have read a lot on the internet, but am not a photographer myself and am a little overwhelmed.
He had a 400D and his favorite subjects are long (30s) exposure, night and water photography.
We live on a small island, so he slings the tripod on his back and goes off-road on his motorbike chasing the light... jumps off... photo... back on the bike, or sometimes jogging throgh the scrub. Also takes photos near (or rarely in) the sea.
So tripod needs to be:
1) stable
2) rugged
3) quick to set up / down
4) lightweight
I am worried that the 400D will not be heavy enough to lock the legs of the 458B, any thoughts?
Any other suggestions would be welcome, but I cannot afford a gitzo...
Also are the 322 and 222 heads stable enough for long exposures and windy conditions?
