Roller|Claw Marks from Pro9500
« on: May 12, 2008, 01:59:05 am »

Hi,

I've noticed that vertical streaks on all my semi-gloss papers recently.  I first thought it was the nozzle, but realized the the marks were consistent and evenly spread out.  I then realized that it had to be coming from the rollers.

The vertical streaks were dotted,  on the printed side.  I then took a closer look at the pro9500 rollers, and noticed the bottom rollers were rubber ones and the top ones had little claws or registration pins in them.  It's definitely those claws digging into the paper as the paper rolls out.

I have the printer on the front tray load setting.

So far, I've noticed the marks visible on

Ilford Gold Fibre Silk
Moab Colorado Satine
Moab Lasal Photo Luster.

I didn't notice the marks on any matte prints,

Photo Rag
Moab Lasal Photo Matte
William Turner

Has anyone else noticed this issue?  I know some see it on the HP printers, but I haven't heard one complaint about this with the Pro9500.

take care, and any help would be appreciated.

*EDIT*

Okay, I tried loading the fibre silk gold through the auto feeder.  Although much much better, the roller marks are a bit visible, but very hard to spot.

I'm going to get a pack of SG-201 in the next day or two, and give that a try.
