Shutter Lens: howto?
« on: May 09, 2008, 06:36:33 pm »

I see some N/L LS lens available as second hand and I hear about huge expectations for new AF leaf shutter lens.

Basically, how do you use them? Is it possible / worth using MF shutter lens with AFD / AFD II body?

Thnx

not quite sure what you are asking. the old leaf shutter lenses of the manual focus mamiyas (m645) wont work as leaf shutter lenses on the new mamiya afd3 or any mamiya except the old m645, as it needs the mechanical link (please, someone tell me if im wrong).
but you could use them without their leaf shutter as normal focal plane (but stopped down) lenses.
the new mamiya leaf shutter lenses that have been promised must be electronic control, like an h1 etc.

well, if old leaf shutter lenses do NOT work with AFD bodies, then my question is answered and dismissed.

Thank you, Paul

I can confirm that they DO NOT work.. and that stinks b/c I had them all...:+}
And forget stopping Down.. it is a royal pain in the butt and does not work well at all if you shoot portraits!!
Bummer or now?
I cannot believe some one cannot invent some kind of adaptor to use them some how...
They are all 2.8 and nice...
Hope the newer ones come out soon.. I really miss syncing at 500th...
Initially that is the real reason I bought the RZ.. To be able and sync again...
