« on: May 07, 2008, 11:41:44 pm »

Hi, haven't tried but just wondered can the z3100 44" print 44" (full bleed)? If so, can it be on matte paper too?

cheers,

It can, but there are some limitations(paper size type etc)  I think you can print borderless on basically any size roll media, however the borderless option will only appear for prints on Photo Papers. Sheets have different limitations, I believe you can only bleed to the left and right margins.

Thanks Julian.

I would have thought it a simple question "can the 44 inch Z3100 print 44 inches wide i.e. full bleed? Yes, on photo paper.
Surely someone has tried this.

I didn't have any 44" paper so no I couldn't try that.

It is only roll and only [/B]Photo media. It is called printing with no margins. The platen sponges are bigger than the 44" area so there is nothing saying that it wouldn't. You normally need to set up a custom page size if you don't want the image to distort, that is all that is important. The cutter will cut twice at the trailing edge, once inside the image ( that was scaled up in auto or manually increasing the image to fit the custom page size) and a second time to eject a small strip with the remaining inked area on the strip. This strip is about the same as the load roll strip.

Yes, you can print 44" borderless on photo type papers...ive printed several 44x95-ish with no problems. ...however, that was printing from XP in CS3...i have yet to convince my printer to even give me the option for borderless, regardless of size, when printing from my Leopard machine in CS4...go figure...i'll get it figured out eventually...betting it has something to do with margin settings in custom papers. any one else have this issue?

Borderless and print to edge is only available on Photo media. I think it's something to do with the traction rollers.
