Epson 4800 Availability???
« on: May 05, 2008, 04:56:22 pm »

I realize that the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 has been discontinued, but I am wondering if anybody out there can steer me to someone who may have one in inventory, or even used.  I am interested in the Phatte Black printing that ImagePrint RIP's can perform.  I hear that the 4880 cannot do this - yet.  Thanks!

You've got two days and three hours left to go for this one (not mine):

I'm sure you can find one somewhere, but as far as new distribution channels go I think that its going to be tough, but the used market should be quite good. That said I would go for the 4880, the Vm inks do quite a bit of good for improving the useful color gamut. I checked on the IP FTP site and it looks as though they have X880 profiles for Phatte black. They are a very epson centric company so I would imagine that that would be a priority for them. If they aren't supporting it now, I bet they will very soon. Phatte black by they way is a great solution I ran it in a 9800 for a while and was very pleased with the results. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any other questions about that setup.
