Updated Images: Shiprock and Death Valley
« on: April 24, 2008, 07:22:51 pm »

I've just updated my website with a few (4) new images from a trip this last weekend into Death Valley. Also on the site are new images (5) shot in New Mexico in January. I always get great feedback from the people at LL, so please have at it.

Images can be found on http://www.mitchdobrowner.com

The new images are off the RECENT link.... starting at the 5th image in (9 images in total). All are labeled 2008.
As always, all comments (good or bad) are of value and appreciated.
Thanks. - Mitch

Mitch, I love what I see but your site is painfully slow to load....I'm using Safari and when I select a thumbnail it takes about 5 or 10 secs before the full size pic loads. I'd love to see more - faster!
Best,
Bill

Mitch,

First, I always enjoy seeing your work and look forward to seeing your latest images.  By coincidence I was in Death Valley about the same time as you this last weekend.  I don't often work in B&W so I was very interested to see your monochrome interpretations of the valley.

Thanks for sharing!

I get about a 2 sec load on 54mps wireless connection.

I can't offer any critique, but I would like to say I find many of your images very compelling and beautiful.

Hauntingly beautiful, as your work always is!  I very much admire the style you have achieved.  I can't find any suggestions to make, except to keep up the good work!

peteh, yes - the recent Death Valley images are IR. The Shiprock images are 40/60 (some IR some straight B&W acquisition).

In regards to the website and loading speed, the next version (someday) will be mainly html based with limited flash usage. Just haven't got to that yet. So for now the first time you access the site you have to allow a few seconds for images to cache. Then the next time the site is then accessed there should be little-to-no loading time.

And nniko, pauls, jd, ph and the others... thanks for the comments. - Mitch

Hey Mitch, I really enjoyed your photos in the last issue of Silvershotz (actually most of that issue was really good IMO.). In fact, it tempted me to buy the magazine for the first time.

Anyway, your site is really good. I'm using an old PC and the latest version of Opera and everything seems fast enough for me.

Although I strongly believe that fine photography is finally about the image and not the equipment, I am still curious about what cameras, printers and monitors you use.

Thanks for the compliment. Its appreciated.
I shoot with two (2) Sony R1s. One camera is stock and the other converted for IR. I print using Epson 3800 and 9800 printers (ABW driver), and grade on both a laptop LCD (Mac) and Trinitron (CRT).

..... oh, I forgot to add that since I started this post (about Death Valley and Shiprock images) I've added new images, which were shot 2 weeks ago during my adventures into Canyonlands, Arches and Grand Canyon. Amazing places. - Mitch
