Mounting Large Prints
« Reply #20 on: May 01, 2008, 03:08:22 pm »

I'd recommend a lamination and mount to 1/2" gatorboard. My preference is a cold laminate combined with a thermal mount. I've been mounting 8' panoramas with a cold lam/cold mount to gator for 20 years, and prints that have been hanging still look good.

(I will say that the original prints were made on photographic material, with a horizontal enlarger, and they are not nearly as nice as new prints made on inkjet printers from high res scans)

Geoff, Thanks for the info.

TylerB, I checked out DeanImaging's website. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see anything there about mounting services. Perhaps they can give me a good referral, though. Right now I'm framing my large prints behind glass, which I like, but i would like to try some other options for economy and convenience.

If anyone else can recommend good mounting services in the Atlanta area or in the Southeast, I'm searching.

Thanks
