New Windows Printer Driver
« on: April 15, 2008, 12:00:03 pm »

I have an Epson 7800 and there is a new printer driver(6.50) for Windows Vista.
It looks very different.
Is there a new algoritm?
Help Online is dead.
Anybody know of a pdf.user guide?
Thanks for any input.

I have a 4800 and noticed a new driver also and sent an email to Epson to find out what it was for. I did notice that it stated that it was not for a printer connected via firewire 1394. I sent the email to Epson over the weekend, but have not received an answer. Since my printer is connected by firewire and not USB, I have not downloaded it until I hear from Epson.

I installed the new driver (6.50) on my Windows XP machine last week - connected to my Epson 7800.  It works fine.  I reprinted a few images and as expected found no differences (i.e. it did not screw anything up!).

I prefer the controls and information layout of this new driver (I was using 5.52)

Only one caution, my custom configurations for ABW and color modes were not saved and I had to re-enter them when I updated the driver.  This was for me a small price to pay to what I feel is an improvement.
