Ink Pad - messy little thing
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:39:55 am »

Hi Forum,

Just looking around a Z3100 and Z2100 at a site I support.

I noticed the ink pads on the left end of the print head travel is looking quite 'covered' in ink.

In an Epson it was changing the ?? Tank.

What is the procedure on a HP Z series?

Thanks,

Maintenance tank on an Epson, I forget the HP term but the engineers call them diapers.  You can change them easily in the Z. You can use women's hygienic pads if you must. Unless you printed a lot you shouldn't need to change them often.

I had the ink caked so thick on the left pad that it got on the carriage and splattered on the print. This was when I had the useless "memory manager" turned on in the driver. It would spend 90 minutes printing a 20 minute print and 70 minutes of that time the head was jerking back and forth on the left side in between passes.

What is a memory manager? A PC thing or a hidden Feature that no one should use.

In the advanced tab of the driver you can disable the memory management. When enabled it makes big trouble for me.
