Video Footag Hasselblad H3D-39 II on location
« on: March 29, 2008, 03:14:01 pm »

Here's a behind the scenes visual diary of The 2008 Australian Kooey Swimwear Campaign, shot with the Hasselblad H3DII-39

At the very end of the closing credits....... I wrote an epilogue and added brief footage of the Prime Ministers apology to the indigenous peoples of this great land.

It’s been a long time coming but the Australian governments acknowledgement of past colonial policies regarding the stolen generation is the first step in the healing process of one of the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

Thank you David. I liked the whole segment, all details, shoot & LCD screen shot. I thought LCD screen was quite bright & details it showed was real good. On a cloudy like today I wish I was there, the locale was real nice.
Thanks for sharing it, would love to see more from you & other photographers.

Hi David,
Just wanted to offer you support on the subject of Aboriginal rights. Treatment of native peoples was bad enough in the (colonial) past, but for it to continue into the present and future is an ongoing disgrace. Was watching a documentary about this a couple of weeks ago, which highlighted the glamour of Uluru, with the tourists and their Champagne breakfasts (my Mum and Dad were there 2 years ago), with the squalor and neglect of an Aboriginal Township just around the corner. Mum and Dad were shocked!

I'm from Northern Ireland, so we know a bit here too about injustice in all it's forms. Lets hope that the PM's apology is followed by action to right many of the wrongs which have been perpetrated.
Jon

EDIT: Love the fusion music. What is it...? The other point of extreme jealousy  ; is that  a Sunseeker Manhattan you're on?

Thanks mate,

I think it would be great to see behind the scenes footage from other members, possibly some one might create a new thread in that regard

Kevin Rudds address to the indigenous nation was a long needed acknowledgement    to laws of successive parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss through the old colonial policies of the stolen generation.

It is a first and welcome step in the healing process of the collective consciousness of the aboriginal peoples of this great wide land.

I could not help but feel deeply moved by the prime ministers dissertation.

The soundtrack was written and composed by DJ Greg Packer @ myspace.com/djgregpacker

As far as the Luxury Cruiser we were on your guess is as good as mine, I don't have a clue sorry, It was my first time on such a boat, some where around the $4 million dollar mark

Thanks David,

The yacht is one of those motivational things I don't think I'll ever be able to afford! (The stern arrangement looked very similar to a Sunseeker, but it's just an equally nice different make!)

You didn't think of sabotaging the engine to get a night or two more on board?

...and I didn't say it, but I really, really enjoyed the footage. Good to see others at work ( and I don't  do fashion...but now I know how to!   )

Great video, I have one question what reflector where you using on your ranger, love my ranger kit and use several different beauty dishes, but that reflector looks a bit smaller??? Is it the 17" beauty dish with a grid?? Also, love the color did you gel the light and if so do you mind saying what gel? Your stuff looks awesome and that yacht rocks...

Cheers,

I just bought the EL 27" (70cm) silver softlite reflector with diffuser sock for the Ranger RX AS pack.

For the Kooey Campaign I hired a generic brand with an EL mount. I think it was a 22" dish. No I didn't use gels, colors were very saturated straight out of the camera.

I have to say in my opinion the Ranger RX AS kit with hard case, X2 batteries, reflector, Ranger A Head (1/2300 s - 1/5120 s flash duration) and brollie is the best bang for the buck I've come across. (U.S. $2,463.50 @ B & H Video)

Shot all day (10 HRS) on one battery, user friendly, intuitive to operate, sealed-water proof (got wet couple of times, no worries didn't miss a beat)

Now if only Elinchrom would come to the party and hook me up with a Sponsorship Deal

Not really behind the scenes, but a quick edit of converging stills and video for a simple web piece.

G'day Andrew,

You know, It's not until you travel that you realize just how beautiful Australia is. I believe Western Australia has to be one of the last pristine places on earth and my god the crystal aqua blue waters off the coast are just breath taking

I believe everyone deserves to experience that at least once in their life time
