1ds mk3 tethered shooting
« on: March 27, 2008, 04:13:16 pm »

with my old camera i used C1 pro for tethered shooting, but as phase is somehow not able to update their program to be properly used with urrent cameras (how long is the mk3 out? 4 months?) i have to use EOS utility for it.
live view for tethered shooting is such a great feature, i can't believe it! one thing sadly missing, that i was using with C1pro a lot is the possibility to overlay an image or a layout over the captures. as EOS utility doesn't seem to offer that and phase a having a deep sleep over updating their rather expensive and pretty outdated, software, how can i achieve that?

is there a way to watch a folder in C1pro, i couldn't do it when i tried

We've been struggling with the same issue. So far the best we've come up with is to designate your current C1 pro capture folder as the destination folder in eos utility and run it in the background. We could not get C1 pro to auto update either so if you keep the download progress bar of eos utility peeking out, as soon as it is done, click in and out of C1 Pro. If you click on the last image of the thumbnail bar, the new preview comes up in the large window of C1 pro. A hassle no doubt, but once you get used to it, yeah, it's still a PITA.
This is all Mac leopard based experience.
From what I've read I'm not all that hopeful that Phase will support tethered shooting for the 1DsIII any time soon. Too much competition?
Good luck, I'll keep an eye out for solutions.

i guess i will go back to my old techique of having PS open with the layout file and dropping soem of the captures in as layers. this was actually the only feature of the pro version which made me spend that much.

i really hope that Lightroom 2.0 does tethered shooting directly, as soon as it does, C1 is thrown out immediately!
