Canon Printer Profiles

On the PRINT Module there is a option under Color Management, Profiles (Other) to use different printer specific color profiles. They have nice fun names like:  Canon MP150 MP2 or Canon MP150  PR1.

The problem is I cannot find any indication of what these mean, what they are for etc.  Can somebody tell me where to find out and what this all means to me?  I kind of guess its to match the screen image to the paper image based on a more exact specification of what particular type of Canon brand paper is being used.  

The package on my Canon brand paper does not say anything about "use XYZ profile for best results".

For instance today I am using Canon MP-150 printer and their own 5X7 Glossy paper stock.

Sorry but that link did not directly answer my question Canon Tech support refered me to a longish path and this document

which did help, but only with one little text box on what is labled as page 5

Profiles that begin with MP mean for Matte Paper
begins with PR means for Photo paper Pro
begins with SP means for Photo Paper Plus Glossy (which is their most widely distributed paper type)

The following number indicates how much ink is applied.. Lower # means less ink, higher # means more ink.  So a profile named Canon MP150 SP3 means the profile is for photo paper plus glossy and that it uses a middle of the range amount of ink.

Hi,
I believe the numbers in the profiles correspond to dithering and print resolution (and thus to the amount af ink). For example PR1 is a profile for 'photo paper pro' with the best quality ("fine" in the driver)  and MP2 is for Canon's cheap matte photo paper for which there is no "fine" setting available.
