z3100 -- how to load canvas?

Both times I tried to load canvas I got big jam -- had even to make head aligment. In the second time I was trying to provide some "lead" with the paper and scotch, but with no lack -- the construction was broken anyway.
So may be there is a trick?

The leading edge (3" or so) of the canvas has to be absolutely flat. If it curls up
at all
, you're in trouble. The printer can handle a small amount of downward curl, but not much.
