Does anyone have the latest Z3100 firmware
« on: March 05, 2008, 08:41:00 pm »

OH MY GOD!!!!

I have been trying for over three hours to download the latest firmware for my 24 inch Z and each time I get pushed to the French HP site, the Chinese HP site where it wants to install Chinese character recognition software for XP.

Does anyone have the latest firmware for a 24 inch Z3100? I will beg, borrow or steal. I will also pay for the freeking thing at this point!!!!

help..........................

For the last several days basically most of the links are broken. Do you think HP knows anyone who knows anything about computers?   ;^)

I gave up totally on the HP printer folks when it comes to the computer end of the printing process. Much more reliable info can either be found here or through my own trial and error experimentation. All the HP techs really did for me is basically ask if the printer was plugged into the computer and the paper profiled. From there on its off to la la land for the "techs" at HP

After 5 phone attempts I was finally told that since my 3100 was out of warranty (ending Feb. 15 of this year) I was not entitled to download the latest firmware!

It was not a pleasant moment for the HP rep on the phone.............................

I gave up trying to get anything from their site after that.

Hope others have better luck then I.

Best regards

I have it.  The question is how to get you a file that's 374 MB in size?  Then you'll also need the new drivers.

That is a terrible response.  I'd never spend this kind of money on a printer with the fore knowledge that I wasn't entitled to future firmware/driver updates.  It think its time for you to contact Ben Wolfe and get the straight story.

Morning,

Thanks very much for the offer. I have a You Send It account which I would happily share my login/password to get this today. If you are very busy don't worry about it I can learn some zen patience and wait for HP to figure out that their web site is a mess!!!  LOL Oh I forgot their web site has been like this for years!

Anyway if You Send It works for you I can PM you the login details etc. and after done can always just reset password etc.

Thanks again

I can't believe that HP limits downloads of driver and software upgrades to the printer warranty period.  In my experience, firmware and utility upgrades for numerous other products from all manufacturers are available no matter how old the product is.

This issue should be clarified.  I hope it was a misunderstanding on the part of the HP tech, but if not, I think our collective voices should be delivered to HP.

I just had HP support on the line. The tech support guy couldn't get any download to work. He couldn't even figure out what the lastest firmare release is.
Isnt 6.0.0.8 the lastest release?
He said the servers are sometimes up - just keep trying. He said it has been going on for weeks now...

Recked, did you get the FW yet?  I sent a PM but I'm not sure it went through. I have the file on my PC and can try a usendit if you email me your info.

I tried 4 times tonight, from 2 different locations. Connection impossible : Connection Interrupted

The document contains no data.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

Network Timeout

The operation timed out when attempting to contact h41186.www4.hp.com."

UPDATE
This morning, finally works.
But new firmware 6.0.0.8 is dedicated to Leopard. For Tiger, it's just 5.1.
I don't understand exactly two things :
1. I have a Z3100 GP, but there is apparently also a Z3100ps GP. What's the difference ?
2. Don't know if the 5.1 allows to stop and resume printing.
