Mamiya Lenses
« on: March 04, 2008, 03:22:22 pm »

Have seen a couple of samples of Mamiya MF lenses use on a 5D and am tempted to maybe pick up a 200MM APO or 120 macro with an adapter for use on a 1Ds2.

The test (just a couple of tripod shots) in question compared a 150mm (IIRC) against the EF 70-200/4 (one of Canon's better zooms) and the extra fine detail captured by the Mamiya was readily apparent.

Any recc's/thoughts from Mamiya glass users on the 200/2.8 APO or any other units and on the use on EOS in particular?

With used Mamiya MF lens prices being so affordable, the ability to pick up a nice 200mm APO lens for < $800 (+ adapter) is tempting.

It depends on how you want to use them. Without a tripod it can be a pain to manually stop down, but if you don't plan on using them hand held or mainly on largest aperture I say go for it. Optics are great.
