Tree and Gold
« on: March 03, 2008, 01:16:54 am »

Exposure details: Canon 10D, 1/250s, 70mm, f4.0, ISO 100

I took this shot of a tree during fall during a walk in the woods.
These trees are so high that one often forgets to look up missing
the play of the dying leafs in the early morning sun.

Very pleasant, almost soothing composition. Nice work.

I like the composition and the way you exposed it for the leaves, letting the trunk and branches fall to black. The black branches add a nice graphic element to the rich hues of the leaves. Both would have been lost if you had opened up the lens any more. You turned a potentially boring photo into an interesting one. Nice job.

Ditto regarding the exposure. As overall photo, I would like to see the whole majestic tree though.
