Suggestions for entering specific Metadata
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:25:38 pm »

Is there any way to automatically insert my file name, ie. 080225-1234 into the File Title Box other than copying the specific info every time?
Thanks for helping a beginner.

LR cannot do this per se, but you could batch rename all your files to your own file name structure using LR and not worry about using the Title field.

If you do need to use the Title field then iView or Photo Mechanic can copy the file name to the Title field easily.

File naming is best done at the ingest stage IMO.

I did ran into the same question and ended up using Downloader Pro for ingest from the memory card to the hard drive, as this program can copy the required info into the places you want. At the same time I can attach my GPS coordinate data and make a backup copy (DNG format) to a second drive. After the Downloader Pro ingest I do an import in LR and from then on it's LR who are the master tool.
