Tethering C1 1Ds Mark II
« on: February 26, 2008, 12:41:54 pm »

Figured I would post this here as this is the Pro section

I shoot pretty much everyday for an eCommerce catalog.  The only time I really shoot with Canon anymore.

Today I am shooting and every other shot comes out dark shot.

The packs have fully recycled.

Changed out the main light pack and got the same thing.

I have all Broncolor gear, so no worry there.  Also the interval/bracket is off.

Does this mean the Canon is on its way out?

Where do I see the amount of shots on the Canon?

Has anyone seen this before?  It still fires and captures the image.  But it seems like it is not syncing properly.  Strange as it is set to 125 at 20  I shot ten shot in a row and six will be properly exposed and four will be two stops off.  I tried a different lens and it did the same thing.

Anyone have a diagnosis?

Thanks,

Ric

Please post your exact setup. What are you using to fire the strobes, a wired connection, optical slave, or Pocket Wizard? If you're using an optical trigger or PW, it might be failing to trigger the strobes Try a direct cable connection and see if that fixes things. If that doesn't fix anything, it could be a camera problem or a strobe problem. Have you tried different lights?

Ric,

I would check your sync connection.  If you are hard-wired, change sync cables.  If you are using Pocket Wizards change either the transceiver or it's batteries.  It could also be the sync port on your camera.

Make sure your pocket wizards on not on delay or inter something..
Had it happen to me.
You can "Go" basic on the PW and see if it still comes up black..
Does sound like a sync problem..:+]
