I think a sky with more distinct sky/cloud contrast and brighter colors would clash with the feel and texture of the rest of the image.  To me, the foggy sky is a positive; it doesn't detract from the great foliage texture, and it adds to the slightly mysterious mood of the image.

Wow, an extraordinary photo conveying mood. In the darkroom, I would have used a filter to bring out the clouds maybe a bit. The sky is the bit which is not quite perfect. Well done!
