Canon Leopard Drivers for iPF Printers
« on: February 17, 2008, 10:44:28 am »

Has anyone installed the new Leopard drivers for the iPF5100, 6100, 8100 or 9100 series printers? The latest release of these drivers take advantage of CUPS technology and are fully compatible with Leopard.

I was wondering if the performance increase was noticeable or the print quality increased.

Currently the drivers are only available from Canon Europe and are listed as follows:

Printer..................Firmware........Driver.............Media Conf. Tool............Driver Extra Kit

iPF5100/6100......1.32................v1.12.............v2.62...........................
...v1.40

iPF8100/9100......1.34................v1.12.............v2.92...........................
...v1.40

Note: Leopard drivers have not been released for the iPF5000/8000/9000. Firmware updates are available, version 1.32 for the iPF5000/8000/9000 and version 1.33 for the iPF8000s/9000s.

I installed the EU drivers, and was unable to get them to operate or function.  It took a considerable amount of time to remove them and install the US ones.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my only complaint with the US one was the pop-up quality menu in the dialog box, which isn't challenging, just odd and somewhat annoying.  Rather than try and resolve the issue with the Eu driver, I just went back to the previous driver.

Thanks Wayne,

Can you tell me what kind of Mac and iPF printer you tried the driver on? Did you upgraded the printer with the new firmware prior to installing the drivers? Finally, did you install the updated media configuration tool along with the new driver.

Sorry for all the question, just trying to get a handle on how they are working.
