Polish misty landscapes
« on: February 09, 2008, 04:18:36 am »

Hi all!
This is my first post here! I was looking around for a few days, finally I decided to introduce myself and my photography.
My name is Piotr. I live in Warsaw - the capital of Poland.
I have been keen on nature and landscape photography for a few years. I still use analog equipment. Dynax 9 are my basic cameras, Sigma 50-500 and Sigma 70-200/2.8 are my basic lenses and Velvia 50 / Provia 100F are my favorites slides.

As far as my photography is concerned I have to say that I concentrate my efforts on searching for the interesting light (I am a light chaser :-)). My photos are usually taken very early in the morning, when the light is warm, soft, additionally reduced by the mist or in the evening, just before or just after the sunset.

As a photographer I am against of changing the photos in the computer during so called post process.
In my opinion the beauty of a particular photo, should be built on the basis of the interaction between photographed reality and the way in which we can see it through the viewfinder in the single moment when we deicide to release the shutter.
The more complex, thought over, surprising is this interaction, the more striking is the photo.

My internet gallery - dreamygallery - can be found here: ENDLESS DREAMY WORLD Photo Gallery

And finally a few examples of how I see the world around me:

Thanks for the welcome!

I think I will concentrate on the Art of Photography section of this forum. I see I can read there a lot interesting points of views.

Gosh, this is nice work.  I visited the main gallery from your link.  Am I reading too much of myself into this?  You have an almost mystical reverence for the beauty of God's creation. Photography is just a poor, but none the less best available way, to mirror that beauty, to share that beauty and in so doing to lift the soul?

Not reading in much, am I?

Thanks a lot, I am glad that you like the way I see the world. This is an art photography so this what you see, what you experience watching these kind of photos partly results from your soul and imagination... and that is great, I think.

Kind regards,
Pyzik

You are indeed a light chaser and a very successful one. I am not very experienced as a photographer (but gaining), but I am a plien air painter of some 30 years. Handling of light as one of the design elements is especially important to me, and your photos capture the concept perfectly.

Thanks! I do value your opinion as a painter.
I used to say that the landscape photography is all about the LIGHT, not the places. In order to have fabulous effects you must make it your friend, not fight with it. .
For me personally, a landscape is usually an excuse for showing the interesting light.

Still, apart from an interesting light I also search for a kind of interesting, thought interactions between the foreground and background, like on the photo presented below:

To whatever extent you can avoid the darkroom and just keep photographing, definitely continue as you're doing.  BTW, Warsaw and thereabouts is home to what appears to be the world's #1 hacker magazine, which ran my crypto article a few months ago.

Thanks for the comment. To be honest I don't know Warsaw from the side you are talking about.
