The first "anecdotal" feeling that I have is that this one opens the capture thumbnails way faster than Capture 4 on my new MacPro 4core 2.8Ghz Leopard system.

And you know what? I checked the time it takes to process a 62MB file from my P25 and it is almost twice as slow on the new and "improved" C14 than with this old Leopard ready copy of DB 3.7.8

This is probably technology transfer from the strategic alliance
of Phase with Microsoft. They may be pouring in millions of dollars to be able to produce a slower program. I'm sure contributed the idea of using black text font on black background. That was genial... a blind interface for the photographer that needs more challenge in his everyday work...

I should cut the caffeine a bit...

I'm running 3.7.8 over here with a P30+/H2...lookin' good. No crashes, the installer works...back to normal. Good.

Dont know, but on a 2.66MacPro processing a P45+ file takes 16seconds on 3.7.7 and about 10 seconds on CO4, both on MacOS 10.4.11. This is sensibly better on the newer version.

I'll install the new 3.7.8 and have a go.

I restarted the computer and now C14 seams faster --something like 6 sec. 63MB-- and C1 3.7.8 almost the same or a second slower. So I suppose it depends on the state of the system and other factors.

I guess I have to say sorry for the false alarm...

Further processing speed test, for the same P45+ file, 8 bit, approx 112MB on MacPro Quad 2.66:

CO 377: 17 sec
CO 378: 17 sec (no significant gain, for MacOS 10.4.11)
CO 4: 10 sec
Lightroom 1.3: 10 sec (as fast as CO4, but I'd still prefer CO4 out of the box colors).
