Profile before or after spray coating?

I've always profiled my matte canvas and then coated it.  The coating seems to give the print (Im guessing) 40% more color gamut.  That being the case would it make sense to profile your test patch after you coat it?

Any coating or lamination or other alterations to a print will invalidate any profile made without the exact same treatment to some degree. I would definitely make a profile of a treated target print.
