Hi Brad,

Have you considered the new Mamiya/phase camera coming out soon?
It has been mentioned that they are going to bring out some new lenses manufactured by one of the European lens makers.
Personally I think Mamiya make fantastic lenses for my RZ and 645 systems even after my unfortunate experience with a faulty 28mm.

Cheers

Simon

hi Bradley,

that's a "refreshing" point of view, much appreciated!

It is not always easy to keep up and follow the pace, for small companies like DB manufacturers, and in this case F&H. All are in the same boat and all do their best, IMO, and there is no bad intention but sometimes only a lack of people or time.

Thanks for your understanding,
Thierry

Hi, Simon,

Yes, I've considered it as well.   The problem is that it is not shipping yet either.  We don't know who the European lens manufacturer(s) is/are/were, so it's hard to make a good decision as a businessperson or as an artist on the platform.

In addition, Phase promised follow-up communication with further details of this platform by the end of December, but so far, as far as I know, no information has been provided.  So, my guess is that they may be behind on their scheduled 1Q08 ship target.

I've decided to personally take a harder line on equipment that is not yet shipping--the past 9 months has been quite difficult for me being in limbo with respect to my camera.

Still, not to be all doom and gloom, I'd love see and hear more about the new platform.

In all likelihood, I'll be using a Hasselblad H2 with CFE V-series Zeiss glass and a CF to H adapter with my Phase for the forseeable future.

Best regards,
Brad
