HVD 90x on H1/H2
« on: January 23, 2008, 05:18:00 pm »

Just wanted to know if anyone one is using the HVD 90x on the H1/H2.  I searched for info, but Ive come up with a mixed bag of info...some sources say its h3D only others say it will work fine on the H1/H2.

Anyone with actual experience, please help me out on this one....

I have tried the HVD 90x on an H1 and it does not work. You probably need the HV 90x as I think the "D" is for digital only such as H2D or H3D.

HVD 90x on H1/H2

Kyle,
I can tell you with certainty that the HVD 90X does not work on an H1, H2, or H2F. It is designed specifically for H3D and H3DII series camera. The H1/2/2F camera will display an error message once the prism finder is attached and the camera is powered on. There has been discussion in the past of taping contacts and such, however that only reduces functionality of the prism, or will render it useless all together for exposure control, auto exposure, etc. The HV 90X and HVM are your best options.

Another option, if you are looking for a masked out viewfinder, as apposed to the plain crop lines, is to use the newer focusing screens for the H3D / H3DII cameras. These incorporate an opaque, black mask precisely masked for 22/33/39MP (36x48mm) sensors, as well as the 28/31MP (33×44mm) sensors depending on your specific back. These will work without issue on H1, h2, and H2F cameras. We have sold them to numerous Leaf customers in past. Here are item numbers for the appropriate focusing screen:

#3043328 - Focusing Screen for H3D-22/39 (36x48mm)
#3043330 - Focusing Screen for H3D-31(33×44mm)

They sell for approximately $230.00

Regards,

Jordan
