6100 not printing proper size
« on: January 20, 2008, 05:08:29 pm »

I'm using the 16 bit driver under OSX (because there is no 16 bit driver for x64 contrary to what I was lead to believe by their lit). I have a 24" roll loaded and I'm trying to print a 16"x20" (in a horizontal orientation to conserve paper). 2" on either side ought to be enough room but if I select a size of 16"x20" (or 20"x16" as the case may be) it always tells me that some of the image will be cut off. This is driving me nuts as this is absolutely NOT how the software should work. If I want to print a 16"x20" I need to create a custom size that's 16.5"x20.5". There has got to be something I'm doing wrong here but I've gone over every setting in the driver I can fine and I can't find anything out of place. Is there something hidden that I'm missing? I think I'm beginning to regret the purchase of this printer over an Epson or an HP. The prints look great when they come out but the level of aggravation in getting there is annoying to say the least. ACK!!!

For clarification this is not simply an issue of selecting the wrong image orientation as I'm looking roll paper preview and it looks and prints correctly (but only with my custom size). When I select a 16"x20" size when I look at the print area layout, the edges of the image are greyed out.

Anyone have insight on to how to make this work properly or is this just another one of Canon's extremely poor design decisions?

Cheers, Joe

I don't use a Mac, but what you describe might be related to this bug fix in updated plugin:

If not, call Canon and post their answer to the Wiki.

Thanks.

Thanks John,

I do have the most recent versions of software on the Mac but I think I'll try reinstalling. I've also managed to figure out how to get around the installer error on XPx64 so I'll give it a go on my PC as well.
