Guidance on Baryta papers with the 9180 please; B & W my emphasis will be.  Also, which paper manufacturer supplies the better profile?

Thanks, Eric

I think you have to get the sample packs and see what you like.

The Harman Gloss can suffer from head strikes at the edges when using the B9180.  There are some solutions but you want to be aware.

Also, go look up the Yahoo! B9180 group and check with them.

Edit:  I love the Harman gloss but it and the harman matte are the only two baryta papers I've tried so far.

What it a head strike? From reading the Yahoo forums I gather a head strike is a result of the paper not lying flat as the printer feeds the paper past the heads...

The result is some sort of smearing of the ink and a waste of expensive paper and ink. If so this sounds rather frustrating and costly.

Actually with the Harmon gloss if the paper has curl it is at the edges, and only the extremity of the paper so the head actually wipes on this edge, not really a strike in the middle of the print.

I've profiled and used the Hahnemuhle Baryta and Ilford Gold Fibre Silk with very good results. As the other posted mentions though, get the sample packs and see what you like. They all have different finishes.
