ImageReporter reports on cameras, lenses, images
« on: January 19, 2008, 01:38:09 pm »

ImageReporter is a new, free application that extracts data from a Lightroom catalog and compiles reports about cameras, lenses, and images. The Lightroom database is not altered in any way.

You can filter the report by image type (DNG, JPG, etc.), rating (0 through 5 stars), time period (last 30 days, last 90 days, etc.), Pick, and Quick Collection.

To download ImageReporter (it's free!), click here. Versions for Mac (10.4/10.5) and Windows (XP/Vista).

Here's an example report:

I have Image reporter, but it has a strange bug in that it does not recognize one of my cameras. It recognizes: SD100, 350D, 20D but not the 1DM3.

Any ideas on why?

It is otherwise a cool little program that shows you preferences that you may not know you have.

ImageReporter gets all of its data from the Lightroom database, so the issue is whether this camera is recorded in LR.

Open the LR Metadata Browser (Library module, lower left) and see if the camera is there. If it is, let me know and I'll try to track the problem down.

In any event, post your results here so this thread will be complete for others.

Hi Marc- sorry it took so long to get back. Yes, the 1d is shown in the Metadata browser. I ran imagereporter again, just to see if it would show up but it didn't.

Pat--

Please email me (1) a screen shot of the LR browser panel, showing all of the camera data, and (2) a text file of the IR output. (You can get it with File-Save.)

My email address is rochkind-at-basepath-dot-com.

Also, your LR version number and platform.

Sounds good Marc. I'm out of town until tomorrow evening, so I will send the info over then.

Thanks, Pat

Nice report. I am thinking of changing my every-day-carry lens from a 17-70 to a 24-105. Looking at the report, I see 23% of images shot with the 17-70 in the 20 mm category, and 25% in the 30mm category (some of which must be 21-23mm).

Maybe I shouldn't... or maybe it means I should get the 24-105 AND a full-frame 5D. Yeah, that's what it must be telling me.
