Dirk, If you download the most recent version of Camera Raw and play with the sliders you can get results like the images I've attached.  Jim

It does scream the name, it is still as vulgar as the original, and I fail to see why anyone would wish to emulate the mannerisms; they are the very first things that attack the retinas. Like acid.

As they say, just my two-cents worth.

Hi,
I've been visiting the forum 1 month ago, when I purchased Hasselblad H3DII31. It's a wonderful place to learn and share works.
Now, my first contribution.

Nice to see you do calm as well! I like that.

One question: the reddish colour above and beyond the right-hand pair of jeans...

this Snook guy is just a child.

If you look at his DP review he was ripping everyone and anyone and got into a heated conversation with James Russell but was going under a different name.  Now he is here and starts the same shit from DP review.  He was vulgar and insulting people there and changed his name and came here.  Some guys on DP review investigated him and it turned out he is some former male model that left the Miami market bankrupt to start elsewhere.

Snook, get over yourself.  You're not doing anything new.  NOT A THING!  you're copying Nick Knight, LaChappelle and anyone else you think you like their work.  and actually doing it poorly!  Get into a big market like NY, Milan, Paris, LA or London and see how you fend for yourself.  You would be starving in any large market.

No offense to people in smaller markets, but this guy thinks he is Meisel or Klein in some 5th rate market.  He would never make it in NY, Milan, or Paris.

Before you start chewing people, look at your work.  I would love to see EXIF here and see who shot it first, but I am almost certain it wasn't snook.  Plus Meisel has done a Junkyard every few years from Vegas and Miami to NYC and Milan.  Check the historic pictures of Italian Vogue.

What a Joke!

I am in complete agreement with the above.  It's kind of sad that this forum is starting to take a turn for the worst.  Constructive criticisim is one thing, but this is pathetic.  I used to read dpreview until the trolls started to ruin the forums.  I was hoping things would be different on this forum. I also read about Snook's pathetic posts on dpreview.

Who's the real copycat?  Most artists use other artists's work for inspiration.  In my opinion, I think Frank's work is really distinct, beautiful, and as one post earlier mentioned, very recognizable.

Frank has really made great contributions to this forum and other forums.  He has written many great reviews of medium format cameras and equipment and is readily available for questions and help.  Frank, I hope you don't take this sort of trash too personally.

wow, is this a PR text ? snooks portfolio is not bad and he sure is less of fake fashion photographer than mister frank.  i bit my tongue if anyone can  tell  where mr franks work is published, in real  magazines not just on LL and DPR...  ?  this is the true  web  phenomenon self appointed experts.  so maybe snook is a child but it seems clear he tries to survive buy selling his work and not workshops and dvds what is the real reason why mister frank spends so much time online.

This sort of belligerent, ill-informed garbage is slowly driving me away from this once great site. It's not just you csp - whoever you are - there are quite a few crawling out of the woodwork just lately. Did they start banning people from DP at last?

I do not wish to play the police by any means, but I would be very careful with all kind of attacks, aggressions, bad-mouthed posts and personal attacks, like they happen currently and frequently: Michael will certainly not tolerate this much longer.

It would be a pity, nevertheless right to do so.

Best regards,
Thierry

The only one chewing heads here is you...:+}
I was only stating facts...
When did I say I was anybody?
You guys need to read before you go off on rants...
I am sure you have a great market there in Miami...:+}
I lived in Milan for 10 years and did quite well there.
Lived in London for several years where i also did quite well...
Always hated Paris so won't even think about going there.
How that Miami market going on in Miami JT?
Thanks for the compliment saying I copy Nick Knight. I would say my style has NOTHING to do with him but I am sure it is just one of the Few Famous photographers you know about and just threw it in there.
Liek I said when I saw people stating that Frank was ripping off other photographers ideas and trying to Copying them exactly, it reminded me of the dispute I had a while back.
Thought I was being Politically correct by not mentioning who it was , But he decided to let everyone know..:]

Let's get back to sharing pictures and let the wanna bes cool down..:+]

ambient light is doing just fine - I don't think that strobes will do any good on the last image at all (it's positive comment)

Try look in some books with European architecture, done by European architectural photographers - we seldom use any other light than what is already there.

I can not even remember the last time I placed a lamp in a space....

Very best

Fake ?

Hummm when i say something i do my homework
See www.frankdoorhof.com under cv and you can clearly see there's no fake

However i choose to specialise in teaching instead of doing magazines but if you visit my cv all will be clear
I don't know why you are bashing me but that kind of arguments are clearly lies and only meant to harm it says more about you than me
Maybe make yourself known so we can see who you are instead of hiding behind three letters

GA,

Be careful,. SNOOK may call you a copycat.  You know he had a girl holding a light strobe head in one of his shots.  Oh Wait, That was a Profoto advert five years ago

What a tool!

In the trend of a model holding a strobe

Just a publication, did this for Elinchrom, publications in:
Studio photographer, Professional photographer, Digital photo pro, Shutterbug, PDN and many many more......
I just only post my NON commercial work, most commercial work is under non desclosure so I can't share them, my free work I can[/font]
[/span]
Sorry for coming back to this but I was on my iPhone when I posted the last post and could not link a picture.

@snook,
let's bygones be bygones and just respect each other.
There is too little respect anyway, and there is only need for a small remark as we can see to call the trolls out.
Maybe michael needs to find the ban button ?
