I would like to print 100 of my best images for viewing in my home gallery for clients. Pretty much like the ones in the LL Gallery in the drawers.
I have never made my prints with built in borders - what are the common paper and 'border' sizes? Are they simply made close to the normal mat sizes, and would just be covered mostly when mounted, or do they usually get trimmed down first?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but I cut the window in a mat so as to overlap the image by 1/8" on each side. There is no border between the image and the mat.
Another possibility is to leave the paper itself visible around the image, say 1/8-1/4" wide. I personally don't like the way that looks. On the other hand I sometimes sample a color from the image and produce a border of about 1/4" in that color, then cut the mat to overlap by 1/8". This looks good when done as a gradient, going from a lighter to a darker version of the color, or vice-versa.
If you're concerned about how much bigger your paper should be than the actual image, I leave 1/2" to 1" beyond the mat window so that I can use hinging linen behind the paper so it does not reach the actual area of the image.
