FineArt Baryta & Epson R2400?
« on: December 29, 2007, 11:39:48 am »

I've tried all of the fiber/baryta papers except EEF, which is out of my price range.  The Ilford Fibre Gold has been my favorite for quality & cost effectiveness, but I wanted to try the Hahnemuhle Baryta before making a decision on which paper to use as my "standard" fiber paper.

I got the box yesterday, but was disappointed to learn that Hahnemuhle doesn't offer an ICC profile for the R2400.  They do for the Epson Pro printers, but not for the R2400.

I went ahead and made some ABW prints using Premium Luster as the paper type, and the results were outstanding.  I think I prefer the texture and feel of this paper to the Fibre Gold Silk.

I'm considering having a custom profile built if I can't get one from Hahnemuhle, but I thought I'd check here first.

This is the reply I got from the USA Hahnemuhle representative:

Our technical marketing department profiles for each new paper that comes
out; however, we do not always have access to every printer as quickly as
we'd like and have to wait to have the ability to profile them.  Please keep
checking our website for updated profiles as they are added often.  The
Baryta is one of our two new papers and we will be working on adding these
profiles in the new year.

Thank you,
