Identity plate placement
« on: December 28, 2007, 10:02:16 am »

Hi,
I was able to follow instructions from a previous thread and make some of my own graphical Identity Plates.
If it's just once on the sheet, I can move it all over.
It would seem to be a usual operation to "Render on every image", putting them in a bottom corner; such as a 4-up of differant images.
But, when I check the box, it just plops it in the middle of ea. image without letting me move it.
I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
Any help appriciated.
Thanks,
bcf

Brian,

I think we are going to have to defer to the experts at Adobe for this one.  I like you was unable to move the Identy Plate if I was printing multiple images on a single page.  Lightroom just put it in the middle of the image.

You're not missing anything Brian, this is what the command does. Unfortunately you can't move the ID plate. I think the intention was for proof images, to discourage copying.

Thanks,
That's what it was looking like.
Although useful for any size print, I was primarily going to use it for dropping a studio name onto a first run of proofs, after minor adjustments in LR; not going into PS to bother w/ a Watermark.

I can make a custom png the same size as the proof w/ the studio name in the right location.  It seems initialy I heard there was a max size on the png ? Do you know if that's still the case w/ 1.3.1; I'm on a WinXP machine right now.

I can't get at trying it till tommorrow.

Any thoughts ?
Thanks,
bcf

Hi,
Just wanted to let those interested know, it worked.
Made a 504 px by 720 px psd with a studio name down in the right corner and “ Proof Copy Only “ in the left corner.  Put all the text & stroking work on separate levels from the transparent background.
Merged visible, saved as png, then save for web as png-24.
There may be an easier way to do this- I'm NOT a PS guru.
When I put it in as graphical Ident plt, at first I couldn’t see it.  But when I got it on the righthand pane it was there, just had to increase the scale to 100%.
As it happens I’m doing a batch of all the same size.
Hope this helps some.

This is using the same functions as the Borders/Copyright videos on my blog. A little bit of extra work, but still I suppose it does workaround the issue. Simply being able to move the ID plate would be much better..
