Epson R2400, New Leopard driver and Enhanced Matte
« on: December 24, 2007, 09:34:25 pm »

I installed the new US Epson Leopard driver for my R2400 printer that can be downloaded from the Epson USA web site. I also installed the latest Epson profiles for photo black and matte black inks.

When I access the "Print Settings" after selecting the R2400 printer, the default Media Type is "blank". When access the pull down menu selections for Media Type the only paper types that appear not grayed out and in this order: Plain Paper, Presentation Paper Matte, "blank", Premium Presentation Paper Matte, and Double-Sided Matte paper. Enhanced Matte is not one of the available selections.

When printing, I have selected the "blank" for the Media Type to print to Enhanced Matte using either Lightroom and Photoshop CS3 and using the Epson supplied profiles for Enhanced Matte and the prints seem to be okay, but not optimum.

I emailed this to Epson tech support, but I have not yet received a response. Can anyone explain why I do not have Enhanced Matte as an available Media Type? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas.

Rich,

Thank you for your detailed response.

Ultra Premium Presentation Paper Matte does not appear as an option on the pull down list for Media Type. And, there is a "blank" selection that I can check as I explained in my original post. Selecting this option in the pull down menu seems to work okay.

If I'm using LR or PS to manage the color for printing (printer color turned off), should the paper setting really have an effect at all?

Cheers.
