Sinarback 54H - sinar-M adapter
« on: December 22, 2007, 02:22:02 pm »

I have just got my 54H back from the Russian Sinar dealer (lost and found back, advertised here at LL forum). The back arrived with an adapter, allegedly  a 54H to Sinar-M adapter, the part number 551.64.233. Unfortunately I am unable to mount the back on the adapter (or vise versa). The adapter has 4 holes, the back - 8 holes. As I understand the shimming is  not necessary  with 54H backs. It looks like I got a wrong part. Now I will be forced to wait another month or two.

My dealer does not return my calls (holiday I suppose ). I ordered the M adapter from Sinar through the dealer and the ordering information do not have the part number. I am sure that it is my dealer's fault and the adapter looks a bit used to me ( no Sinar packaging).
Is there a way to get the Sinar part numbers online to check the adapter I got?

I tried the Sinar.ch, sinarcameras.com, and sinarbron web sites to locate a Sinar catalogue with the parts numbers. I found an sinarback instruction of 2002 with a lot of dated info and no information on Sinar -M parts. The 2007 paper on Digital configuration mentioned the adapter kit #551.65.035.
Is it the right part?

Is there a right adapter for me at the Sinar dealers anywhere in Europe to buy urgently? I  am frustrated and feel ready order the needed part from  anywhere in the world.

Thank you . I wish you all  a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year,

Yevgeny

ask thierry.

in any case i was using a 54h and mounted the contax adapter. it has 4 screws to mount the adapter.
the other 4 screws you see in the back itself are the adjust screws for the sensor itself. me i was clever enough to open them till the sensor was totally dejusted and after that seeing my error....... and having to send the back to sinar for new adjustment.

Dear Rainer,
Thank you.  Fortunately I did not touch the sealed screws, found and read the instruction  at Sinar.ch first.
I am a stupid and inexperienced amateur eager to spend the January Christmas vacation shooting paintings. And  I am envious , a lot of LL forum members praise their dealers here. I have zero support from my Sinar-Bron guy here in Moscow, and the Phase One dealer is even worse. LL became a source of knowledge and real world experience for me.
Rainer, thank you for your help and very interesting posts here.

Dear Yevgeny,

the right adapter for the SB 54 H on the Sinar m has number 551.65.035 and is called "Sinarback 54/Sinar 100 Adapterkit 2".

And yes, you have ONLY to fix it with 4 screws (NOT 8). No shimming necessary.

Best regards and Merry Christmas to you.
