z3100 Light Gray ink usage
« on: December 21, 2007, 01:41:49 pm »

I think I saw a post about this a while back but I am amazed at how fast this printer goes through a light gray ink cart!

I will always buy the discounted two-packs of the light gray carts from now on.

Light gray was the first cart I had to replace followed quickly by GE (I was printing a lot of satin at the time).

Me too, Light grey and Gloss Enhancer. With my little Epson it was always light magenta that ran out first.

I guess anything remotely resembling off white uses the light grey

My Z3100, also.  Maybe the light gray is used to desaturate other colors?  At any rate, I'll be getting twin packs of the LG and GE.

I haven't had to replace any cartridges yet but my LG is lowest followed by GE.  You know what would really suck, is if all of them emptied at the same rate.  I couldn't afford $900 all at once.  OUCH!

My plan is to by a few colors over the next few months of the twin packs, then the sting will not be as bad.  Is atlex.com the best price for it?

ATLEX certainly has good prices, can't say they're the best but I don't feel the need to shop around.  They have fast service and I've dealt with them for several years so I feel good about buying from them.

Same usage for me, Gloss goes first then Light Grey. I use gloss for every print.
I've been buying my twin packs from Cost Central  http://www.costcentral.com/searchresults.p...rds=z3100&GO=GO
They are the least expensive I've found. About 3-5$ cheaper than Atlex.

Thanks for the link -- their prices look good.

One thing I noticed though.  They sell 13 different ink cartridges for the Z3100.  They list a Cyan in addition to Blue and Light Cyan -- my configuration uses the Blue and Light Cyan but not regular Cyan.  What's up with that?

Not to worry!  The Cyan is for the Z2100 series.

Try Provantage.com-

Cheapest I've found, but slow shipping to some states.
