Aptus 22 and Hasselblad V-system cameras
« on: December 10, 2007, 12:03:30 pm »

Is there a way to mate an Aptus 22 with a Hassy V-system camera without having to use a camera-to-back sync cord? It looks like a 555ELD might work but I'm not sure.

TIA

AFAIK, you need a sync cable. I almost bought the 555ELD for my A17 but decided not to just because of this issue.

Unfortunately you'll need a synch cable for the 503CW, the 555ELD, the 903SWC, the Flexbody, and every other Hasselblad body and lens!

It's a pain, but for more contemplative subjects like architectural or landscapes, it's not that much of a pain. Plus the more modern Hasselblad lenses have a locking mechanism that holds the cable pretty securely.

Total bummer. I'd love to go back to shooting with my favorite camera system but I guess it's not in the cards.

Oh well, it will save me money.

The ELD indeed was designed to work without a sync cable. However we soon found out that the signal is not being reliably carried through the contacts from the lens to the body and from there to the back.
So YES you have to use a sync cable.
As opposed to other V models (EL, ELX, CW), the ELD does not require a camera control cable for triggering the shutter remotely (from the computer).
