Epson 4000 printing borderless problem
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:22:14 am »

I never had problems before printing borderless (17x25) on roll paper with my 4000, at least in the days of XP.  Now that I have a new PC with Vista, I've tried for the first time to print at that size and get the message on the printer LCD:
"No Borderless for this size"  The manual indicates that this message will appear if a non supported paper size is indicated (if I recall, eg: A3) 17" is clearly supported, and I have all the borderless options configured the same way as when I printed on XP.

Problem occurs printing from Photoshop, Lightroom and QImage, and I have all the most up to date applications, as well, I've verified I have the most current driver for the 4000.  But, I can't find any firmware update fo Vista.  Epson has one for XP on their site but I think the firmware drives how the different media is handled, and, obviously I'd like to either re-install or update.  The only Epson files I've reloaded are the driver and status monitor.

Any ideas?  Or is this a call to Epson?

Thanks.

Tim
The printer detects the page width, if it isnt reading the 17" properly (roll not the 17", marks on the leading part of the roll), it may be regestering a shorter width.
You could try to turn off the PPR Size check in the printer setup menu.
If with this off you still get the same message it is the page size that is being sent to the printer by the driver.

Ha!  That IS funny.

I had all kinds of similar suggestions I thought were too dumb to post but that wasn't one of them.
