Not related to MF, not even to photography... unless you consider your Mac as an important part of your photography process, same way that Kodak used to be for the film base imaging in the past...
the huge logo on top of the brand new store in Manhattan, the third after one on Fifth Av. and Soho, last Friday at 6pm.

The crowd of people that came to get a T shirt and other souvenirs was enormous and the three floor store, the biggest in the city, with large windows illuminated this three street corner of what used to be a back alley of the city and now is quickly becoming a super chick shopping district connected to an important center for the art world at West Chelsea.

Macolytes worshipping at the altar of Apple never ceases to amaze me.

My local Apple Store is quite small [especially compared to this new store] and has way more than enough room to show off all of Apple's products several times over, so I'm realy curious as to what they are going to do with the space. Have a room for each version of the iPod?

I hope the 'Genius' staff are less stupid than the ones I've encountered in Apple shops. A numpty in one only the other day was trying to show off the MacPro and pointed inside as to where to add extra memory and to my surprise MacPros apparently now use PCI slots for memory!   Duh!

"You don't see guys drooling over Stanleys latest multi-tool...' that is the point. Why so many droolers...

Oh btw, REALLY wrong forum! ... I know, but what is the point of posting this at the Macaddict forum?

That's the way I feel about all the photography stuff.  They're just tools to me but 75% of everything on this site are men drooling over Stanley's latest multi-tool.

who the hell cares about apple stores...the only reason I like apple computers is that they look good, but above all the ease of operation.

Apple tries to create a cult, while actually becoming more and more a microsoft clone by thinking more about profits than about quality. Which in the end will bite them in the ass.

As for the store: some people are just losers and will stand in line when they are serving your fried doodoo (SHIT!)

How do they care more about profit than quality?

I would say their products are still top notch.

Allthough I don't agree with all their decissions (locked phones, shitty batteries, not being able to run mac OS on a non-apple device....)

Indeed. I'm a [computer] life long mac user & love them, but this latest bollocks with the iphone stinks & people high fiving each other as they come out of the store with one is just plain cracked - well done you bought a mobile phone all on your own from a shop.

Anyway. Wrong forum, OP -  take your apple worship weirdness elsewhere please.

I walked past the Apple store the day the iPhone came out in the UKand there was a big line of people waiting to be completely and utterly ripped off, sorry purchase a new phone. I was so tempted to take my phone out  and video them all in the queue and say "Ha, can't do that with an iPhone". Plus I pay 1/6th of the price of the iPhone, yet I get a very nice Nokia free and get 500min+100texts compared to the iPhone with 200min+200txts and I get a new phone in 12 months time too. the iPhone's a very nice phone without doubt, but what a complete and utter rip off. Aimed at idiots with way too much money.
You can buy an iPhone without contract in France and briefly in Germany but you pay £600 I think, that 's a £400/$800 premium over the iPod Touch for the phone component. Bargain!

Basically every other company that makes phones are coming out with their own version of the iphone, with probably better service (like Verizon).

For only $6.5k you can get this gold Mac Pro (24 Karat Gold MacBook Pro: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 15.4" TFT display)

Personally I don't see the point, but maybe some of the better to do posters here may be interested .

Definitively a conversation starter,   downside is that may get stolen faster

Holy crap, those prices are off the chart.

1Dsmk3 is comparatively cheap. And you get a battery

Carpenters would have never built the first house with these tools.

Those prices...   But boy, are they beautiful pieces of engineering art. Must agree that if I had one, I'd sure as hell never sully its beauty by actually using it!
