NEC 2690 Help please
« on: December 06, 2007, 06:53:40 am »

I have just purchased the NEC 2690 and have downloaded and installed the SpectraView software.

However - I cant get the software to give me a Hardware calibration option - its greyed out. I can do the hardware and software option - but I dont think this utlises the monitors inbuilt LUT.

Ive check the driver and all is ok.

Any ideas?

Forgot to add - connected to the monitor via DVI-D to DVI-D - which I think is correct?

I just got mine also.  Not sure what you mean.  The window comes up that says 'searching for colorimeter' etc. and then the Spectraview II panel comes up.  What is greyed out?  The calibrate button on the bottom right?
I just realized that you downloaded software.  I'm working with the software CD and the colorimeter that came with the monitor.

What do you mean? Do you see the instrument in the popup? If so, you're good to go.

I don't see anything in my software that says anything about hardware other than where you select the colorimeter.

Just choose the software/hardware option and proceed. It uses the LUT, calibrates and creates a profile.

BTW.  I think I see a little light falloff bottom right and left corner with my 2690.  Anyone else seeing this on their unit?

In the SpectraView profiler 4.1 software there is a settings tab with the option to set either:
Hardware [Monitor LUTs]
Hardware and Software
Software [Video LUTs]
None

The top option 'Hardware is greyed out' - which according to the spectraview manual is the best option.

Yes _ I see the i1 and it pops up and I can choose 'express' and do a calibration. But I thought it should be the hardware option?

The 2690 also came with software called 'Gamma Comp' - which I havent loaded as yet and 'NaviSet' - which appears to be an adjustment tab for the monitor in the display dialogue.

*very confused*

Well there's the rub. There's software for the European market and one for the US. In Europe (and presumably elsewhere?) its BasICColor or something along those lines.

Best to call your reseller and ask them what your options are.

I just wanted to add for anyone else in Australia who is considering the purchase of this monitor - the Spectraview II software DOES work on the locally sold 2690Wuxi and is fully supported on the 2690WUxi - even though the USA wont licence the software outside USA and NEC Australia cant supply it.

So - all you need is the monitor, an i1 colorimeter and access to the software to get the full benefits of its internal LUT's.

Very happy owner
