Finally got a chance to install the beta LC 11 you kindly sent me, thanks very much.

I also just discovered it doesn't run on XP64 windows, so I installed it no probs on my laptop (just xp)

Like you I have a sony laptop (GRT716S), and I'm having much the same problems you are having. yes I've got power, the laptop knows the back (Valeo22wi) is  there but no drivers to run it!

I guess there is something inherant in sony's laptops

I'll give it another go tonight.

Thanks again

hey, I was looking through the code in the Leaf.inf file which can be found in your windows/inf folder and this is what I found

[Models]
%SBP2\Valeo% = CREOSBP2.Leaf,SBP2\CREO&LEAF_VALEO&CmdSetId104d8
%SBP2\GenAptus% = CREOSBP2.Leaf,SBP2\CREO&LEAF_DIGITAL_BACK&CmdSetId104d8
%SBP2\GenValeo% = CREOSBP2.Leaf,SBP2\GenPrinter

I have a feeling that your Valeo will work, it may be the drivers for your card which aren't working properly, like mine. Update: I bought a SIIG Firewire 800 expresscard from B&H with a driver CD and...IT WORKS!
the back tethers. joy.

So now I have a fully functioning Leaf Capture 11 with my Leaf Aptus 75S running on my Sony Vaio SZ650N/C
Less than 4lbs, spec'ed out like a macbook pro.
Life is good.

Good news to hear you got your's up and running.

In my attempts to get mine working I thought I would reinstall LC11 to see if it helped the problem. Unfortunately LC11 now won't start and comes up with various code issues.

I think I will try another firewire card too. Belkin support is pretty useless when you need help.

Try and try again.....and again, and again!

for awhile mine was giving a Javascript error when I shut down the program.
I installed Java environment update 3 and I don't seem to have the problem now (the usual download is update 1)
Try deleting the Leaf.png and Leaf.inf and Layout.png and Layout.inf in windows/inf after uninstalling to see if that helps a reinstall

Try the SIIG cards they seem to have good driver support
